The Cape Breton Highlanders of Canada
Memorial Pipes & Drums of Friesland
In the Netherlands, several World War 2 Memorial Pipe Bands have been founded, to honour the liberators of the Netherlands, with a special focus on the Scottish and Irish Regiments with pipe bands, from Canada. The Cape Breton Highlanders of Canada Memorial pipes & drums of Friesland have been founded to be a "living memorial" for the pipe band of the Cape Breton Highlanders of Canada, who have played their wonderful and inspiring pipe music many times, during and after the liberation of the Netherlands, especially in and around Leeuwarden (Friesland) since they were stationed in Bolsward, after their final battle at Delfzijl (Groningen) in the final phase of the Second World War.
